The 15th International Flow Battery Forum unveils full programmeand high-level speakers.
IFBF press release
Brussels, 3 June 2025 – The 15th edition of the International Flow Battery Forum (IFBF) is taking place in Vienna on 24-26 June 2025, bringing together the global flow battery community to explore the latest developments in technology, policy, and commercialisation for the advancement of sustainable energy storage.
As demand for reliable and long-duration energy storage grows, flow batteries are proving to be a cost-effective and scalable solution to support the energy transition. Every year, the IFBF provides a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, demonstrating how flow batteries are already contributing to a more resilient global energy system.
This year, we are growing proud to welcome over 300 participants, showcase 40 research posters, host 15 exhibitors, and partner with 12 dedicated sponsors. This vibrant gathering reflects the interest, investment, and innovation surrounding flow battery technology.
The full programme has now been released and is available here. This year’s agenda features an extensive and interdisciplinary set of sessions—ranging from policy and regulation to technical innovation—highlighting the growing role of flow batteries as a key technology for a decarbonised and sustainable energy future.
A key highlight of this edition is a dedicated policy session featuring David Hochschild, Chair of the California Energy Commission, who will provide insights into California’s pioneering roadmap for flow battery deployment and renewable energy installations. Also joining the programme is Viktor Horváth, Deputy State Secretary for the Energy Transition of Hungary, who will explain the role of diverse energy storage technologies in the energy transition and related plans for central Europe.
Among the complete lineup of speakers, major industry players will share their perspectives and real-world experiences:
Verbund, Energie Burgenland, EDF, and EDP Renewables will discuss the integration of flow batteries in their energy operations.
Rongke Power will share insights into the performance and challenges of their large-scale installations.
Flexbase will present their ambitious plans for a 100+ MW flow battery system in Switzerland.
Quino Energy will share insights on quinone flow batteries and scaling them at a Multi MWh scale.
Looking beyond Earth, the conference will conclude with a report from Fraunhofer UMSICHT on the use of flow batteries in space, including updates on a programme funded by the German Space Agency.
In addition to technical presentations and panel discussions, the event features dedicated exhibition and poster areas—ideal for connecting with the innovators and key players driving the flow battery sector forward. Attendees will also benefit from networking opportunities and take part in an exclusive visit to CellCube’s HQ—a chance to see cutting-edge vanadium flow battery technology in action and up close.
The IFBF 2025 is co-hosted with CellCube—a key player in the flow battery sector—and supported by Flow Batteries Europe, the advocacy body for flow batteries in Europe. Information and tickets: https://www.accelevents.com/e/International-Flow- Battery-Forum-2025.
